Afraid that your bathroom reno will break the bank? Limited funds should not stop you from dreaming on a budget. How about sourcing that perfect vintage tub? Toronto is a great place to find deals and an old clawfoot could set you back as little as $200.
Cabana Renovations' many services can help you make your renovation dreams come true.
In a bathroom renovation, nothing speaks to luxury like exquisite tiling. Unfortunately, tile can get pricey. Champagne tastes do not necessarily need to be sacrificed by a beer budget.
Try mixing and matching an inexpensive tile with something a bit more lux. A good eye and a solid plan can always get you the most bang for your buck.

Kitchens are the heart of the home. They are a gathering place for family and friends.
Apart from being the place in which we prepare our repasts, they are our offices, our libraries, our store rooms.
Kitchens get a lot of use. Even in a budget conscious renovation, it is never wise to penny pinch where quality is concerned. Nowhere is this more evident than in your choice of cabinetry.
Style at Home magazine offers the following advice on kitchen renovations, "Quality drawer slides and hinges mean cabinet doors will stay closed and drawers won’t stick. Stay away from drawers that are stapled together or made of particleboard. For cabinet interiors, wood veneer is more durable than melamine, laminate, MDF or particleboard."
Remember, you are investing both time and money in your kitchen renovation. To maximize the return on this investment and your enjoyment, make certain that you are purchasing the best construction that you can afford.

Use materials in clever ways to add impact to stock items. In her blog, Suzanne's Reno Survival Tips HGTV's Susanne Dimma offers the following suggestions:
Use high 1 x 6 planks of paint grade wood as dramatic modern baseboards.
Run basic white subway tile full height on a bathroom wall for a spa effect.
Apply affordable mouldings to basic drywall and plain core doors to create an old world Parisian feel.
Trim standard sash windows with chunky mouldings to make them feel custom.

So, you are thinking about renovating your bathroom or your kitchen? You've watched the all the TV shows. You've read all the magazines. Now for the big step — finding that perfect "someone" to do the work. But how do you keep your "dream kitchen" from turning into a nightmare of construction debris? How do you take that leap of faith? Well, here at Cabana Renovations, we understand that it is a big responsibility to be invited to work on your home.
The Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation offers some sage words to homeowners in the planning phase of kitchen or bathroom renovations "The contractor you hire should have the technical, business and interpersonal skills, the tools and the experience needed to do the job you want done. Hire a contractor who has experience with projects similar to yours. This contractor will know what materials and techniques are needed for your work; and even better, about problems with similar work — and how to solve them."
They also offer the following list of questions that you should ask:
Don't be afraid to ask questions. Reputable contractors are not afraid to answer questions. If a contractor doesn't seem to have the answers or doesn't want to talk about the technical details of your construction, you may have the wrong contractor.
Finally, make sure that you get along with the person that you are hiring. If you cannot communicate with a contractor, any project can begin to spiral. You need a contractor who, "will explain what’s going on as the project takes shape, who will discuss problems reasonably and who will work with you to make the result as good as it can be."
