See us on!

We’ve all seen those palatial bathrooms with acres of space between bathtub, toilet, sink, bidet and shower—and we’ve built more than a few of them—but in most cases more modest homes have a limited floor space that makes similar arrangements impossible.

Many of our clients ask whether they should combine the tub and shower to save floor space (as usually was the case) or has it become a thing of the past? Our clients tend to prefer a separate tub and shower, dismissing the narrow and uncomfortable old tubs of 30 years ago. Today, though, bathtubs come in a variety of shapes and sizes, serving well as both tub and shower. Choosing a tub that can double as a shower conserves space and often, money.

Many of our clients say they never use the tub in their master bath and keep it only to protect the resale value of their home. At Cabana, we firmly believe in building what you want. Worrying about a future buyer sacrifices only your own happiness.

If you are constructing a new home or addition without concern for space or money, you can simply include both a shower stall and a luxury bath. The bath, however, is by no means a must. Trends seem to be shifting away from the mandatory whirlpool or soaking tub. Provided that a bath is available elsewhere in the house, you might want to consider removing the tub from the master bathroom, and construct a well designed shower space with a marble bench, body sprays and rain head (not to mention the possibility of a steamer).

Other accents can include the very popular heated tile floor, a built-in entertainment system (music and video) and heated towel drawers. You are only limited by your imagination!
